Getting ready for Singapore
Saturday November 4, 2006Tomorrow I will get on my flight to Singapore in order to do my Internship there. Altogether I plan to stay there til next March. I was hoping to get a snow-free time this summer, but we had plenty of snow-rain on November 2nd…
During the last… hm 10 month I planned this internship. I actually got the internship via one of my Professors at university (Thanks to Prof. Arlt!) but there was a lot of stuff to do, to get all details cleared up. My internship will be a research project on prediction of thermodynamical data for special distillation processes at Sulzer Chemtech. I was impressed about the visa procedure: I got a E-Mail from the hosting Nanyang Technical University (NTU) giving me the access code to an online visa application service of the Singapore Immigration government - Within 10 minutes all stuff was done: No trip to an embassy or whatever. The university also got me a room at one of their dormitories.
After some pretty bad experiences flying Lufthansa this time I chose a non-stop flight Singapore Airlines taking me in just 12 hours to Singapore. I used Skyways to book my flight online, cause they offer cheap Student-fare tickets (which saves about 30%!).
Today I checked the Singapore Airlines website for some flight details – and interestingly I found out, that they offer a “Pre-Check-In” via Internet having the possibility to choose a nice seat in advance – and so I did. At this point I want to point out, that seatexpert covers nice details about what seat you should choose (I got the premium 61A).
So, I will have some relaxing last hours in Germany before I get to the tropical climate… Stay tuned for news!
